A recent survey found that Singapore has a shortage of dentists for the aging population, and opening a dental practice in Singapore will gain you success as the demand for dental services has been increasing steadily. But set-up should be within rules and regulations.

Steps to start a dental practice

  • Eligibility- Dental professionals with a local degree are automatically registered in the Ministry of Health database. But if you are a dentist from another country and want to open your practice, then you must apply for conditional registration to practice in Singapore.
  • Registration of business- Register your clinic as a business entity with ACRA. You need to follow the guidelines ACRA sets in case of naming your center.

Some application licenses are needed for opening the practice officially

  • You must have Premises approval from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
  • It would help if you had Renovation permits, temporary occupation permits, and an advertising or signboard license from the building and construction authority.
  • Suppose you want to prescribe any drugs or perform any surgery. In that case, you should have a Certificate of Registration of a pharmacy to dispense medicine from the Health Sciences Authority (HAS).
  • It would help if you had L3 licenses for each irradiating equipment from the relevant National Environmental Agency (NEA).
  • Med-save Accreditation for patients to make med-save claims from MOH.
  • You can get Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) from the Singapore Civil defense force (SCDF) and the fire safety department.

If you have a diploma or a degree in dentistry, go for the opening of your dental practice.
