For the designers at Imperial Coach Builders, the focus of their limo creations is entirely centered on making their client’s imagination a reality. Located in Springfield, Mo., Imperial Coaches has distinguished itself from others due to their precise attention to detail, overwhelming lighting designs and use of LED. By introducing LED, Richard Meagher, plant manager and engineer, found that because all of the lights run off of the car battery, LED requires less power, stays cooler and shines brighter.

From pink Hummer stretch limos to classic wedding styles, Imperial Coaches makes it possible to create any client’s fantasy world on wheels. Being in high demand and expanding the number of lighting options in their limos, Imperial Coach Builders has transitioned from using fluorescent lights to using LED. Customers have choices whether to outfit their limo with light up dance poles, rope lights, starry ceilings and walls, lighted floors and mood lights throughout their vehicle.

For this vehicle, Imperial Coach Builders manufactured an illuminating dance pole out of an acrylic rod that with RbG lighting that changes colors throughout the night. When not being used to dance the night away, the pole has attachable cup holders giving it multiple uses throughout the night. With everything being tailored towards the client’s needs, Imperial Coaches has never duplicated a car.

Different kinds of lights are used on the ceiling and floor. In this picture, Imperial Coach Builders installed star lighting for a romantic roof top effect. Other lighting effects offered by the company include fiber optic neon lighting, lighted disco floors, wall lights and rope lights along the bar and chairs.

Clients have the choice of remodeling one of four vehicles: a limo, a town car, a Hummer limo or a Cadillac Escalade. This company finds most their demands with funerals, weddings and parties. With saved energy from using LED lights in their vehicle design, customers can add more accessories into their vehicle such as entertainment systems, bars, DVD players and lighted dance floors.

“Our party designs are our most popular and include lots of lights in the floor, the bars and the backlights,” says Lisa Catterson, president of Imperial Coach Builders. Each illuminated part of the vehicle is made up of different kinds of lights but they are all now centered on LED. The disco dance floors are made up of strips of RBG lights which produce an array of colors.

$750,000.00 Contract Calls for Company to Convert Up to 25 Bus Chassis Into Imperial Coach Limobuses

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Jul 6, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) — Electric Car Company, Inc. (OTCBB:ELCR), a vehicle conversion Company that specializes in electric conversions and manufacturing for the Livery and Fleet Markets, announced today that it has been awarded a 12 month contract with Don Brown Bus Sales, Inc. The Contract, valued at $750,000.00, calls for Electric Car Company, (ECC), to convert up to twenty-five (25) Federal Coach bus chassis into Imperial Coach limobuses. The Company plans to deliver the first two buses by mid-August of this year.
It was reported in LCT magazine in January of this year that the Federal Coach Bus line manufacturer out of Goshen, Indiana, is no longer producing limousine-style interiors for its buses. Federal is now concentrating solely on shuttles and mass-transit style buses. This has created a vacuum in the limobus sector for the chauffeured transportation industry, one that Electric Car Company has been poised to exploit.

The Company will facilitate the conversions of the buses through its wholly owned subsidiary, Imperial Coach Works, Inc., and its custom manufacturing division, Imperial Coach Builders, Inc. Imperial Coach is well known to be one of the premier designers of limobus interiors in the United States. The company is very excited to be given this vote of confidence by Don Brown Bus Sales, the exclusive dealer of Federal Coach Buses in the Northeastern United States.

For 35 years, Don Brown Bus Sales, Inc. has been delivering the Best-In-Class Customer Service and Safe, High Quality Vehicles for the Transportation Industry. They carry one of the largest inventories of new buses and new vans in the Northeast. “We are thrilled with our new partnership with Imperial Coach Builders,” said A.J. Thurber of Don Brown Bus Sales. Mr. Thurber continues by saying, “The Federal Coach Bus products are in a league of their own, the quality is unsurpassed in the bus market today. With our limo interiors from Imperial, we will offer the highest quality limo bus on the market with unparalleled design.” For more info visit: www.buscrazy.net.

Imperial’s plans for these buses will rival anything the company has built to date. Each vehicle will reflect Imperial’s long-standing commitment to elegance and craftsmanship, as well as its innovative designs. To begin with, each will be designed with a full, color wash ceiling, as well as fiber-optic and LED mood lighting. They will all include state-of-the-art, electronic entertainment systems, and richly appointed, luxurious upholstery. “We are very excited about working with Mr. Thurber and his team at Don Brown Bus Sales,” stated Tom Fielding, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Imperial Coach Builders. “We look forward to a long standing and fruitful relationship for both our companies.”

Story Updated: Sep 4, 2009 at 1:28 PM CDT

Imperial Coach Builders began its stretch limousine conversions years ago, but the company is about to lead the way with new technology.

“We plan on converting our limousines to full-electric power, which will provide about 100 high-tech manufacturing jobs to the Springfield area,” said Tom Catterson.

And that’s a big deal considering even this company felt the recent economic downturn.

But company higher-ups say making the move to electric, now, is smart for the business.

“The gasoline engine is going to go by the wayside eventually. It is our belief that pure electric power is going to be the ultimate way to go,” said Catterson.

The new electric engines are also made just up the road in Kansas City by a company called Plug-In Motors.

The first electric engine was put in a Ford Mustang with impressive results.

“It does zero to 60 in just over 5 seconds. It has more power and more torque than a conventional Mustang engine,” said Catterson.

That makes it ideal for use in limousine manufacturing.

Obviously for someone operating a limousine service, it’s going to be a little more costly up front, but down the line, there are some big savings.

Here the things you have to think about. You are taking maintenance out of the equation.

Plus, a gas-powered vehicle costs around 25 cents per mile to operate, versus the only 3 cents per mile operating cost of an electric one.

The engines are also expected to last much longer.

“There’s no moving parts in them. There’s no brushes. They are pure alternating current electric motors. So, there is no end of how far they can go,” said Catterson.

It’s estimated the electric engines can run for more than 200 miles on a single night’s charge, and can travel up to 85 miles per hour.

Imperial Coach Builders says it will begin converting the limousines to electric-power in January.

Again, up to 100 new jobs could come as a result of this initiative.
